ALARA Conference 2026
Action Learning and Action Research for Sustainable and Inclusive Futures
The ALARA 2026 Conference has ended, with a wide range of presentations from practitioners from eight countries. The full programme, full set of abstracts and slides from most of the presentations are now available on the Conference site.
A big thank you to all that helped prepare and conduct the Conference, in particular, Haruna, Karin and Sam, who smoothed over the cracks in the technology!.
Annual General Meeting and Elections
Day One of the Conference included the face-to-face part of the AGM. Seventeen people attended the electronic and face-to-face meetings and all items were approved. A lack of nominations for Board positions was a concern, but three people have now stepped forward (see below) to take ALARA towards its 40th year. The minutes of the AGM are available here.
New ALARA Board
I am pleased to advise that three members of ALARA have agreed to become Board members, as follows:
- President - Akihiro Ogawa
- Treasurer - Emmanuel Santos
- Secretary - Keith Heggart
The ALARA Board page will have the details of these new Board members and how to contact them.
The initial meeting of the Board has already commenced the discussions about future events and activities for ALARA, as well as the need for many people making light work to help ALARA grow. Why not contact ALARA to offer your assistance?
Action Research Community of Practice
The next meeting of the Auckland CoP will be on 21 October. This month will be an opportunity to share experiences from the conference, as well as another opportunity to discuss our own programs to inform others, and obtain feedback and insight from each other.
