Action Learning and Action Research for Sustainable and Inclusive Futures
Submissions for presentations are beginning to arrive for the conference. Submissions will be accepted up until 15 July. Full details and submission form for presenters are available on the ALARA Conference web pages.
Registrations for the conference on are open. Early-bird rates now apply, so do not delay.

"A call to action research", book and webinar
Bob Dick has provided the following information about a book launch and webinar.
About a decade ago, or a bit longer, I reached a decision about the state of the world. It seemed to me that the world was in peril. Current ways of responding were inadequate or actually damaging.
Action research and related approaches have the mindset, values and processes appropriate for responding to the present and likely future. Most facilitators share that mindset, values and processes, I think.
At the time of my decision, I hoped someone would write a book about the peril and remedy. Now someone has. And now there will be a webinar to launch the book in this part of the world. The book is "A call to action research", by Davydd Greenwood, Johan Ravn and Koen Bartels. The webinar will be at 6pm (Eastern Australia time) on Monday 15 June.
The authors will introduce the book. I'll provide a brief commentary. There will then be an open discussion.
The book provides good evidence that the world is in peril. It explains why action research is especially suited to averting or mitigating the peril. It sets out how this can be done.

Speaking for myself, I suspect many of you would find the book as impressive as I did. The webinar may provide you with enough information to be useful to you.
Apart from that, I'd welcome a discussion on-list about the potential contribution of facilitation to our present and future issues.
Action Research Community of Practice
Last month David Kayrouz discussed a PAR project using a development of John Heron’s cooperative enquiry using non-verbal forms for experiential inquiry related to facilitating greater levels of epistemic justice for participants.
The next meeting of the Auckland CoP will be on Wednesday 24 June 2026, at 1.00 pm in New Zealand, 11.00 am in Eastern Australia Time (10.30 am in South Australia and 9.00 am in Western Australia), 9.00 am in Manila, 2.00 am in London, and 9.00 pm Tuesday June 23rd in Eastern USA. The CoP aims to enable people to obtain feedback, contribute ideas and build connections across borders. Initial meetings have had contributions from Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
