ALARA 2024 Australasian Conference

The ALARA-UTS Conference was a great success when it was held at UTS on 7 and 8 November! About fifty people attended (12 online and the rest in Sydney). Many of the presentations are now available online.

ALARA Annual General Meeting

The ALARA Annual General Meeting was completed at the ALARA-UTS Conference. The minutes of the AGM are available here.

Developing AREOL into a MOOC

A small group gathered for the think-tank at this year’s Action Learning Action Research Conference in Sydney, Australia. The discussion contributed some useful feedback and suggestions. 11th Action Learning Action Research and 15th Participatory Action Research World Congress

The ALARA Board have decided to conduct a World Congress next year. It will be a multi-country and hybrid event, held in Auckland, New Zealand on 18 & 19 September and in Sydney, Australia on 23 & 24 September 2025. We would like to add a third country, and would welcome any proposal to join in this event.

The working title (to be confirmed) is Developing Collaborative Action. In today's environment, there is an even greater need for collaboration to solve the challenges we face. Our aim at this World Congress will be to go beyond just talking about collaborative action. More details and a Call for Papers will occur in early February, but please book the dates in your diaries now.

How Can You Help?

ALARA Is a volunteer-run organisation. The Board welcomes any offers of assistance, from reviewers of papers submitted for publication, to assisting any of our areas of activity - see the Committees Group for descriptions of these areas. Note: you do not have to be a Co-ordinator. ALARA needs people who can offer an hour a month, an hour a day, or anything between (even a day every so often). Next year, the Board will also invite members to join in a strategic planning process.

Please send any news for us to add to the webpage and the AL/AR Calendar so that all can see what is happening in the AL/AR communities. If you have any items, please contact ALARA.
