ALARA 2024 Australasian Conference

The Organising Committee for the ALARA - UTS conference decided to extend the period for submissions to the end of August. They had received over twenty submissions by the end of July, with at least another five having been received this month so far. Submissions now close on 31 August, so please consider submitting your proposal, or downloading the flyer and passing it to your colleagues.

Early bird prices for registration end on 1 October, and they are $400 for attendance at UTS and $300 for virtual attendance. The registration price includes one year's membership of ALARA.

ALARA will begin announcing details of presentations over coming weeks, and it looks like an exciting event, with submissions so far from Croatia, France, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa, as well as most States in Australia.

Meeting of ALARA Supporters

After the success of the meeting held late last year, another pair of meetings are scheduled for 26 August. If you would like to join either or both meetings (8:00 am and 9:00 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time), please email ALARA.

Monographs

The third of our recent monographs, Empowering Environmental Guardians: Using Collaborative Systems Thinking to Solve Real-World Problems in Girls Science, is an on-going project, and the editor and author plan to supplement the paper before publishing. There will be a few weeks' delay before the monograph becomes available.

Webinar

We continue to seek potential presenters of webinars. If you have suggestions, or wish to present a webinar, please email ALARA.

Funding Support

As a charity registered in South Australia, ALARA is eligible to apply for funding support for social impact projects that benefit the people of South Australia. This funding is up to $30,000, and requires someone or a group of people working with ALARA to conduct a suitable project over coming months. Examples can be projects or short term programs responding to community need, or intergenerational projects, mentoring or skill sharing. Applications close on 12 September, so if you are interested in submitting a proposal, please contact ALARA as soon as possible.

Action Learning / Action Research Calendar

The ALARA webpage with Action Learning and Action Research news and events continues to be updated. Please send any news for us to add here and in the AL/AR Calendar so that all can see what is happening in the AL/AR communities. If you have any items, please contact ALARA.
