ALARA 2024 Australasian Conference

Registrations have now opened for the ALARA - UTS conference - see the end of the conference web page. Early bird prices are $400 for attendance at UTS and $300 for virtual attendance (with a $50 reduction for concessional registrations). The registration price includes one year's membership of ALARA, so as a member, your membership will be extended by one year following payment for the conference registration.

Presentation submissions can be lodged until 31 July 2024. The theme is "Transdisciplinary Action Research" with presentations reflecting the diversity that is Action Learning and Action Research.

We continue to seek potential presenters of webinars. If you have suggestions, or wish to present a webinar, please email ALARA.

Monographs

The first of the promised two monographs, Action and Evaluation in Alternative Education: How Students’ Stories Shape Teaching Practices is now available on its Monograph page (you will need to log in to open this page).

A second monograph, “You were the neck, and we, as participants, were the head”: Preschool teacher’s perception of using action research for professional development, will be published later this month.

Tributes

We learned late last month of the passing of former ALARA Management Committee member Jeannette Kavanagh when Yoland Wadsworth sent a tribute. Jeannette was a hard-working former member of ALARA who helped organise events and workshops such as at the 2009 Melbourne ALARA conference and contribute to the 2010 World Congress, and served on the ALARA Management Committee, and who was also a member of the Action Research Issues Association (ARIA).

The ALARA Board decided to add a Tributes page (which may become a series of pages) for these types of tributes. See Yoland's tribute on that page.
