ALARA-BALT 2020 Australasian Conference
- Virtual Only Conference
As mentioned in the last e-News, the Tasmanian Premier announced that his State's border access would remain highly restricted until at least 1 December. This decision has allowed the Organising Committee to enhance the online Conference that it began developing earlier this year. The ALARA-BALT Conference will now be conducted entirely via Zoom Webinar, with sessions limited to about 2.5 hours to allow participants to rest between those sessions. The Committee is increasing its efforts to make the virtual conference a new experience for participants, where much learning, conversation and networking is facilitated. For example, participants may wish to use these gaps between sessions to catch up with fellow participants in "chat" sessions or by booking a room for a coffee conversation.
Submissions have now closed and final reviews are under way. Thank you to everyone who has submitted their abstracts. Once presenters have confirmed their attendance, the Committee will begin providing details of each presentation, via the Conference website pages, ALARA's social media, such as ALARA's Facebook Event and these e-Newsletters.
Members can register for the entire virtual conference for $75.00, while the price for non-members is $95.00. Alternative, participants can meet in a small group and attend the virtual conference at a group price of $195. Registrations for a single session will be available once the conference programme is close to finalisation.
More information about the conference is available on the Conference web pages.

ALARA-BALT 2020 Australasian Conference
- Have you liked the Conference on Facebook?
ALARA has a page and an event for the Conference on Facebook, and three hashtags: #actionlearning, #actionresearch and #ALARABALT2020.
Our assistants are posting updates and information relating to ALARA, BALT and the conference. To gain the maximum coverage, however, we need ALARA members to view and "like" our ALARA page and Conference event. The more "likes" we get, the greater the promotion of the event.

The alliance includes the introduction of new professional certifications as Action Learning Facilitators and Action Learning Practitioners, co-badged by ALARA and GCWAL, support provided to ALARA by GCWAL to develop research in action learning and action research, and future development of education and development programmes by GCWAL in action research and other related fields. |
New Action Learning and Action Research Journal Site Testing
The site for the ALAR Journal is also written in old code that is unstable. Testing is currently being conducted on a replacement site. The new site should be available late this month, when a new livery and new functions will be debuted.

CSIRO will work with the government, universities, industry and the community, on a new 'Team Australia' missions program to bolster Australia’s COVID-19 recovery and build long term resilience. The program of large scale, major scientific and collaborative research initiatives, will be aimed at solving some of Australia’s greatest challenges, focused on outcomes that lead to positive impact, new jobs and economic growth.
CSIRO is calling for partners to join this 'Team Australia' approach to solving what seem like unsolvable problems. It will direct $100 million annually to the co-creation of missions, working with the brightest minds across the research sector and industry.
