Action Learning, Action Research Association Ltd (ALARA) and Business Action Learning Tasmania (BALT) continue to plan for the ALARA-BALT Australasian Action Learning, Action Research Conference 2020 to be held in Launceston, Tasmania.

The Organising Committee of the ALARA-BALT Conference has responded to the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic by creating a flexible event. The Organising Committee has decided to plan for a conference that provides both a face-to-face and a virtual experience. The size of the face-to-face audience in Launceston will be highly dependent on the lifting of travel restrictions, and the desire of action learning and action research practitioners to meet in that lovely city. The addition of the virtual element will make a larger and potentially broader experience for participants who may not be able to travel to Launceston.

Participants may wish to gather in a small group and attend the conference remotely from their own city, participating with the face-to-face audience and other virtual locations. Alternatively, participants may wish to join the conference remotely from their own home / office to participate in conversations. Naturally, ALARA and BALT will welcome those who wish to join the face-to-face audience in Launceston.

This conference will also commemorate the 10th anniversary of BALT's first program in 2010, and marks thirty years since ALARA's first World Congress in 1990. Come and celebrate these anniversaries while meeting with action learning and action research academics and practitioners from around Australia and the world.

In keeping with action learning and action research methodologies, the conference will include highly interactive and participatory sessions, as the organisations continue the tradition of ALARA learning conferences - see the video on learning conferences at the end of this page. You are invited to submit a proposal for a presentation that you will deliver either face-to-face or virtually. Both types of presentations should engage the participants. You are also invited to submit a short video about your presentation for display on this web site. The revised proposal form includes instructions on the presentation scenarios. See the Proposal submissions and Registration page for more information.
